QB 2020 for Mac will only return date format of MM/DD/YY.. Need MM/DD/YYYY.

Does anyone know how to get Quickbooks Desktop for MAC to recognize the short system date but with the four-digit year rather than the two digit.  It gives me a message that it is taking the system's short format and I should change the system date in Preferences.  Even though I have selected "2020" in the preferences, it still gives me the same "20"

Hey there, @Abbie133. Thanks for joining the Community.

I'm happy to help you out with the date format. You must restart QuickBooks after making the change in System Preferences before it will take effect. If it still shows the incorrect format, quit QuickBooks and toggle the System Preferences format back to the old format and back again to the new, then re-open QuickBooks.

Please reach out if there's anything else I can do to help, I'm determined to be your number one resource for QuickBooks for macOS.

Thanks Michael,

No joy with the procedure you specified.  I get the same message at the opening of QB. I toggled to the old short format as suggested but there was no change.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.  I would like to exhibit the full digital year on our checks for security, not allowing anyone to add any numbers to the 20__.

I appreciate you performing all those steps and giving us an update of the results, @Abbie133.

Since the date format keeps going back to the old preference, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team for assistance. They can check the program and OS system with the help of a screen-sharing session to fix the problem.

Here’s how to contact support:

  1. Go to the Help section.
