QB Desktop Intuit login demands

It is now at least 7 (seven) months I have been complaining about being required to log in to Intuit to supposedly 'secure' my desktop file on my own PC.

I am getting tired of the hack workaround by closing the window (alt-F4) every week.

Please, Please turn this off Intuit!

I do not want my offline desktop accounting system to call your server. That is a layer of security risk that our clients DO NOT WANT. The choice was made to have standalone desktop system for added local security.

We cannot see any benefit in connecting the system to your server... actually would prefer the computer isolated from the internet altogether.

Please listen to your clients. I have been using QBPro for 23 years already... Enough.

Hi there, Flyingkiwi.

I'm glad to see you posting here in QuickBooks Community. This is not the impression we want you to have when using QuickBooks. I'll provide information about the Online Intuit account and how your data secure Intuit.

Logging in to your Intuit account and verifying your identity helps you protect your data and your account. You'll need one Intuit account for all of your Intuit activity from QBDT, QBO, TurboTax, QBSE, etc. That said, the purpose of an Intuit account gives you the power to manage your finances across all Intuit products you use. An Intuit Online Account is your universal user account for most Intuit sites. It allows you to access multiple Intuit websites and applications with the same user ID and password. Once you sign in to your Intuit Account, you can see your orders, download your products, and make some changes to your stored information. Your Intuit Account is created the first time you purchase a product or service from Intuit.

Intuit keeps your data & privacy safe and you're the only one who can access and control it anytime. It's an added security to maintain the information for each product you purchase in one place at Intuit.

For additional information, you can click this article: Manage your Intuit Account online.

Please refer to this article to see details on how One Intuit Account (OIA) Manager allows you to manage your data safely and easily: Access and manage your personal data from the One Intuit Account Manager.

The Community always has your back, so please let me know if you have other questions or concerns. I'm always here to help. Take care!

@Flyingkiwi

It is their new policy to recent versions. I noticed QuickBooks will contact server every time we are starting the application. You may choose only to close the file, not to exit the application.

I know that, and this is totally unacceptable. I can go around the problem. But this is not a feature we have asked for and it is something that goes against the grain - when you purchase a standalone product for better security, then it wants, not just to call home, but to force you to log in to Intuit.

Bad form.

But why do our users need to log in to access a local file?

That gives less account security, not more.

A standalone bookkeeping system with no salaries, taxation or any other services.

I am glad the community has my back... I am not certain Intuit has....

Thank you ZachE for your input. I am surprised at so much QB input when this has been discussed as a problem for more than a year.

My comment and thanks was not as resolution, but as a hope that Intuit take this seriously. There have been many complaints and users struggling with this.

As said before, please leave Desktop versions offline.

Regards

Mike
