QB file migrated from windows to Mac requires administrator login

I transferred my company QB file from Windows to Mac 6 weeks ago. That required me to enter the username and password from the windows QB file to open the company file in Mac. I have entered that username and password for six weeks with no problems. Now all of the sudden after I enter the username and password the application freezes up and won't load the company. The application will load a sample company file because it does not require that username and password. I hope this makes sense to someone and you can help. I sent my backup file to Data Services and they were able to see my data. There were no issues with them opening the file. I got it back and still cannot get the company file to load. So it must be that username and password that was required because it was originally a windows file. ??

I've got some troubleshooting steps we can perform to access your company file, KaciQR.

I appreciate you for contacting the Data Services Support Team to verify if there's a damaged data on your company file. We enter the username and password to access or open the company file stored in your QuickBooks for Mac.

Since our Data Services Team can access your file on their end, it's possible your Disk Permissions is damaged on your program. When this happens, it prevents you from accessing your data file in your software.

To resolve this, let's repair it by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Applications.
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Tap the Disk Utility option.
  4. Select your Mac’s hard drive and click the Repair Disk Permissions button.

For more details about this one, check out this article: https://qblittlesquare.com/2010/11/troubleshooting-basics-with-quickbooks-for-mac/. Then, proceed to Tip #3 section if the same thing happens.

If the problem persists,  there may be a damaged component on the software. We can uninstall QuickBooks for Mac and repair it to resolve any data issues in the software.

Before performing any troubleshooting steps, it would be best to back up your company file. This way you’ll be able to restore your company file and get back to work if you ever run into a problem with your data.

You can follow the steps and details in this article to uninstall QuickBooks and repair it: Reinstall QuickBooks for Mac using a clean install

Just in case you need assistance with our Technical Support Team, please follow the steps below to reach out to them:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Choose Install and Update and select a topic.
  4. Click Start a Message to connect with them.

That'll do it. Feel free to reply to this thread if you need anything else in running your QuickBooks. I'll be here to answer them. Have a great day ahead.

QB file migrated from windows to Mac requires administrator login

I am on Mac Catalina 10.15.6. When I open disk utility and click on the hard drive, I do not see a button for repair disk permission. I clicked first aid and ran that, but it did not solve my problem. I did everything else in your post and still the app locks up (becomes unresponsive) after I enter the migrate administrator username and password. Any other suggestions??

Create a backup file and restore it with a different name.
