Does the QB Mac version 2021 also have the same problem as version 2020, of not being able to work in Multiuser mode?

Which problem do you refer to? You can run QBD Mac for up to 3 users in the multi-user mode.

I'll make sure you'll be able to work in Multiuser mode, Angela.

In addition to Fiat Lux - ASIA, you'll want to ensure you've purchased an additional user license to use the Multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.

Let's go to your QuickBooks Menu and check how many user licenses you have. From there, select About QuickBooks 20XX to view your user license details.

If you don't have a multiuser license, you'll want to subscribe to it. I'll show you how.

  1. Hover to the QuickBooks menu, then click Manage licenses.
  2. Select Buy Additional Licenses.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Once done, go to the QuickBooks menu again, then Manage Licenses.
  5. Then select Sync License.

You can also see this article for more details about this process: Use multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If this is not the case, you'll want to check if QuickBooks server is running and if the company file is shared. To be guided, you can refer to the steps outlined in this link: Troubleshoot multi-user issues for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Once everything is settled, you'll want to utilize this resource for guidance in running your QBDT for Mac seamlessly: QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 User’s Guide.

You're always welcome to tag me in your reply if you have other questions about multi-user mode. It's always my top priority to help and ensure to keep you on the right track. Stay safe!

QB Mac 2021 - Multiuser mode

The problem of not being able to work in Multi-user mode. We are currently running version 2020 in MacOs Big Sur and were working fine till the last software update version 19.0.8.938 R9.

My question is, if version 2021 has this same problem?

QB Mac 2021 - Multiuser mode

I can share some information about using the multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @angelaruba.

There’s an ongoing issue when sharing a file in QB Mac 2020. This happens when enabling multi-user mode inside QB or adding the file as a shared file inside the QB Server app.

Our Product Engineering team is already aware of this and is now working on a new release. To constantly receive status update, I suggest reaching out to our Product Support Team. Then, let them add you to the email list for Investigation No. 61450.

You can follow the steps below on how to reach them:

  1. From your QuickBooks Desktop account, click the Help menu at the top.
  2. Click the QuickBooks Desktop Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Provide some information about this concern in the search box.
  4. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the window.
  5. You'll now be provided with a few support options.

Check this article for more information about the different types of support we offer and their availability: Contact QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

In the meantime, you can use QuickBooks Desktop for Mac in single-user mode. Here’s how:

  1. Go to File and select Enable Multiuser Mode. You should see a checkmark next to it.
  2. Click the Enable Multiuser Mode again to switch to single-user mode. The checkmark should now disappear.

Refer to this article for more information about the multi-user mode and switching back to single-user mode: Use multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Once the new update will be released and you'll still having an error with your multi-user mode, see the following article on how to resolve it: Troubleshoot multi-user issues for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Keep in touch if you need any more assistance with your multiuser mode, or there's something else I can do for you. I've got your back. Take care and have a great rest of the day!

There is a problem with the software. Are you people aware of this? Read the attachment!

My question remains the same. Does version Mac Desktop 2021 also have the same problem?

Thank you for your more conclusive answer.

Let's hope the engineers can resolve this issue quickly. What I don't understand is, how they put out an update to the software that will interrupt the normal functioning of same.

Its not the update the caused the problem. The certificate expired - there's a max time limit allowed by macOS for certificates and that was exceeded.  The next update will contain an updated certificate.

2021 doesn't have the problem as its certificate hasn't expired.

We're still having this issue even with the updates. It just started this morning.

Quickbooks Server 2019: 18.0.10.3432 R11- Running on a Mac Mini with 10.13.6 High Sierra

Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2019: 18.0.10 R11- Running on latest Big Sur update.

Both applications say they are up to date.

I appreciate you for letting us know the results after updating the applications, MGSTL1.

Allow me to step in for a moment and share additional information about the Multi-user system. Before that, is there an error message that you encounter? This way, we can provide an accurate answer to fix the error.

If you’re having trouble with multi-user mode, here are some solutions to troubleshoot issues while sharing your company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.

Let's start by checking if QuickBooks Server is running and if the company file is shared. This should only be installed and running on a host computer. Make sure the company file is on the same computer the QuickBooks Server app is installed on. Here's how:

  1. Click Go and select Applications.
  2. Double-click the QuickBooks 20XX Server.app icon.
  3. If you need, share the file.
    1. If the file’s listed under NOT SHARED, click the file then Start Sharing.
    2. If the file’s not listed, select + to add the file.

If everything is fine, verify if the file-sharing permissions are set correctly on the host computer.

  1. Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
  2. Click the Sharing icon.
  3. Select the File Sharing checkbox.
  4. Add the folder where the company file is stored in to Shared Folders.
  5. Click + under the Shared Folder column.
  6. Browse to the folder where the company file is located, then select Add.
  7. Under the Users column, make sure the permission is set to Read and Write for Everyone or just the specific users who will be using QuickBooks.

If the issue persists, follow the rest of the steps in this article: Troubleshoot multi-user issues for QBDT for Mac.

Additionally, I've included this article for additional information in QuickBooks for Mac: Use multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'm still here if you have other questions with regards to setting up your company file in a multi-user. Just post your questions here, I'll respond as soon as possible. Keep safe.

QB Mac 2021 - Multiuser mode

Yup. I've already come across those steps and tried them all. I've even removed all of the Sharing and re-added them.

The setup has been working fine all year and just broke this morning showing the same symptoms as the others have posted here.

Also, we can open the company file on the host computer within Quickbooks for Desktop, but as soon as we try to turn on Multi-User mode, Quickbooks closes the file and gives an error saying that it can't open the company file. Then if I shut down the app and re-open, it will open but Multi-User mode is not on. Same error occurs when trying to turn it back on.
