QB Unit of Measure (Greyed Out)

Hello, HSL01012021.

I'd like to share important details about the versions that support the Unit of Measure feature.

QuickBooks Desktop Pro doesn't have the Unit of Measure feature. Since you're looking for another version, these versions can support single and multiple units of measure:

  • QuickBooks Accountant
  • QuickBooks Premier Contractor
  • QuickBooks Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Contractor
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Manufacturing & Wholesale
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Nonprofit
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Professional Services

If you just want to use a single unit of measure, you can check these versions:

  • QuickBooks Premier
  • QuickBooks Premier Nonprofit
  • QuickBooks Premier Professional Services

When you're ready to switch, you can go to this link to purchase the program: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/premier/ (also includes the Enterprise version).

You can also check this article if you need more help with switching: Switch QuickBooks Desktop versions without uninstalling

After switching, you can enable the Unit of Measure feature by going to your Preferences:

  1. Click the Edit menu, then select Preferences
  2. Go to the Items & Inventory tab.
  3. Under UNIT OF MEASURE, click the Enable button.

More details about the Unit of Measure feature can be found here: Use single and multiple units of measure for items

I'm more than happy to help you out if you have questions about your new QuickBooks Desktop version. Just reply here, and I'll be right there with you.

For your reference

https:// quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/inventory-reports/use-single-and-multiple-units-of-measure-for-items/00/186030

If you are using QB Desktop 2020 Pro Plus, you can purchase a one time license of QB Desktop 2020 Premier with a one time license and you will get a lower price than QB Desktop 2021 Premier. If you are located in the US, you can purchase the one time license of QB Desktop 2021 on Amazon. Otherwise, you can purchase it thru a partner/reseller without credit card.

Maybe you can use group? You can specify the number of items in a group.

e.g.

item: 1 bottle of soda 330ml

group: 24 bottle of soda 330 ml
