QBDT 2019 vs QBDT 2024

I am using QBDT 2019 and am curious if QBDT 2024 has resolved some of my complaints about 2019. Can someone point me to a detailed comparison of the features of these two programs?

Thanks.

What complaints do you have for QBD 2019?

QBDT 2019 vs QBDT 2024

It would take a while to accurately describe them all, but one of my main complaints and consistent time-wasters is the inability to produce anything, statement or report, that provides detailed invoice information that includes dates and items. All the details get lumped into one date, the date of the invoice. So when a customer asks for a breakdown, or I have to produce a report of services provided, which happens frequently, I have to export to excel then manually tease out and insert each date of service from the individual invoices. I mean, the data is in there, I can see it in the invoices, so why can't QB give it back to me in a report? As far as I know, QBO and later versions of QBD have not fixed this defect. I have used QB since the early 90s and have submitted this problem in the form of a suggestion many times. Intuit just ignores suggestions, as far as I can tell.

I have other problems, like the inability to change where QB saves templates and company letters, inability to link it with some word processor other than Word, and most recently the apparent removal of the Outlook Contact Sync app. (The app download button no longer works, so I guess it is just no longer in existence. Who knows?) Anyway. is there somewhere I can see a detailed comparison of 2019 and 2024? I haven't seen any reason to upgrade heretofore, but am trying to see if there might be a good reason now.

Thanks for your response.

QBDT 2019 vs QBDT 2024

Hi there, @Scribo. I see that you're using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2019 and want to know if version 2024 addresses some of your concerns. Let’s look into where you can find a detailed comparison of the features in these two versions.

If you're utilizing the 2019 stand-alone license, you may still access your QBDT files on your computer without buying an active subscription. However, please be aware that this version has been discontinued. Access to Payroll, Desktop Payments, live technical support, Online Backup and Banking, and other features through QBDT will cease after May 31, 2024. As a result, starting June 1, 2024, you will no longer receive critical security updates to protect your data.

For reference, please check out this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

Additionally, if you upgrade your account to its latest update, you'll have the option to use the said services above. This enhancement will also enhance your overall experience and address the challenges you're facing with the QBDT 2019 plan.

For more information, refer to this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

Moreover, I suggest reaching out to our sales team. They’ve got the right tools and can provide personalized advice that fits your business needs. Also, they can break down the differences between the versions and help clear up any confusing features. To contact them, please use the number in the upper right corner of this article: QuickBooks Enterprise Pricing.

If you decide to upgrade your QBDT, instead of starting from the beginning, you can transfer data to and from QuickBooks. You can read this article for detailed steps and explanation: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop

You're always welcome to ask other questions about the comparison of these two products in this forum. If you have other concerns, keep me posted, and I'll answer them as soon as possible.

QBDT 2019 vs QBDT 2024

Hi SheandL (sounds like there are more than one of you),

I am well aware of the discontinuation of services/updates for QBD 2019. I never used "Access to Payroll, Desktop Payments, live technical support, Online Backup," and I have managed fine without "Banking."

I reviewed all of the release notes for QBD 2024, and don't see any reason therein to upgrade. Certainly no improvements in the ability of Statements or Reports to show date/item detail. I guess my vigil continues. I haven't even been able to find any third-party software that helps with QB reports. There were some available years ago, if my memory is correct. I tried QBO years ago and rejected it after giving it a good long try.

Thanks anyway.

P.S. Any explanation about the inability to download the add-on or app for linking QB and Outlook? I suspect that an MS problem rather than an Intuit one. I am somewhat unhappy with Intuit ignoring my suggestions over the years, but my list of grievances against MS dwarfs any concerns with Intuit. I cringe every time they "improve" something. Give me back my reliable and accessible DOS-based programs any day.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

How about Business Intelligent apps?

Thanks. Do you mean Business Intelligence? I looked at their website and couldn't see anything that might be helpful in producing a report that provides the details I was looking for. Were you thinking of a specific app?
