QBM file in use error message when transferring portable company file using gotomypc file transfer

Copying the portable company file and then pasting it into another folder seemed to work.  I was able to transfer the file to my clients pc.  I've installed the DT 2019 patch which fixed this issue that made it impossible to close a company file without using cntl alt del.  This is happening post patch as of 1/10/2019.

Repairing your QuickBooks file helps fix issues like this, coatsj07.

This process is known to resolve all program-related errors in the software. Before we begin, I'd suggest preparing the installation CD or downloading the installer from the website.

The Installation Wizard is the same place that uninstalls QuickBooks at the same time does the repair. Since we're going to troubleshoot the error, we will choose the Repair option.

Here's how:

  1. Close any open programs and restart your computer.
  2. Create a backup copy of your company file.
  3. Click the Windows Start tab in the lower left-hand corner, and then select Control Panel. For Windows 8/8.1, click Start, type Control Panel on the search box, and then select Control Panel on the results.
  4. Click Programs and Features. If you don't see this, select Uninstall a program or Programs and then Program Features.
  5. Click QuickBooks on the list of programs, and then select Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click Continue, and then Next.
  7. Select Repair, and then Next. Wait until the Repair process is complete.
  8. Click Finish and restart your computer.
  9. Lastly, update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release and payroll tax table.

You can also refer to this article on how to fix errors encountered during the repair.

I'll be around if you need further assistance. Thanks.
