I have quickbooks pro. I renewed quickbooks pro 2019 in November. Now I’m being asked to subscribe to quick book pro subscription which expires end of February. Should I do this?
No sure what you are asking. I have been using QBs desktop since 1995. I purchase my software and it never expires. It may not work with QBs add-ons such as payroll unless current or within the three-year window. Using any QB service requires that you purchase and update software every three years.
Hi there, @Rodvet.
Allow me to join the thread and help check the status of your QuickBooks subscription.
Yes, QBsguru is correct, you need to update your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to the latest release. You can update it manually or automatically. If you turn on Automatic Update, you're allowing QuickBooks to download the latest updates, whether or not the program is running. If you wish to turn this feature off, we recommend manually updating QuickBooks once a month.
For additional reference, you may check this article: Update to the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop.
In addition, you may get in touch with our QuickBooks Support Team to check this further for you. For the support's contact information:

When you see "Plus" that is a Package of services, including support and the rights to annual program Upgrade (2019 - 2020 - 2021). That isn't the same as Updates and that isn't the same as Owning QB outright; think of the "Plus" Subscription program as a Lease arrangement.
You might simply be seeing Marketing. Only you know if you want to Own QB outright, or pay annually for both a support package and the right to Replace it every year.
You seem to know what you're talking about, and aren't part of Intuit trying to sell me an add-on.
My question: I currently run QB for my own company. I'm CRO of another startup, and about to buy QB for that company (I don't want to add new company to my current version, and risk someone from the other venture seeing my financials).
Regarding users...can we use [email address removed] (example) and share the password, so that 3 or 4 people will have access to our QB files? Or do we need to buy QB for every single person in our system who needs access to the books, even if they aren't day-to-day.
I've been using QB for different companies for many years.
QB is a software that allows you to open different files (companies). Seats (sometimes users) are the number of people that can be logged in at the same time.
Passwords are for files/users, no for the software.
You can have different users with different permissions to each file. and each one can have their own password.
In one of our offices, we have 7 computers with QB installed, we only own 4 seats. so we only can have 4 users at the same time.
Hope this helps a little.
So let me get this right...I have QB Desktop Pro 2018 for my small business, but I don't have any add-ons (I make an acct copy and they do my payroll/taxes, etc) and I don't use online banking, etc. I just have the very basics and just use the software on my desktop. Intuit is trying to sell me and telling me I need to upgrade because as of 5/31, I can no longer do online backup or receive critical security updates. So if I'm just using the basic software with NO add-on's (I do backup to my cloud online, use the Accountant's Copy and email invoices to customers), should I still upgrade my version to get the current security updates??

What is security update? You may keep using your one time license of QBD 2018 for good. You just won't get any Release update.
I just found out that once you agree to purchase the pro plus, you can't cancel the subscription at all. It is because the sale representative not disclose the consequence if you try not to renew or cancel. The consequence of the cancellation and not to renew is you will not able to run payroll and process payment. And also disable your access to your data . Furthermore, you cannot use your quick book pro even your subscription not expired. Please think twice before you agree to purchase this product.
Thank you for voicing your concerns and sharing some insight into the product. Please know that this is not the impression we wish to leave you with.
When it comes to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus and QuickBooks Pro, Pro plus does require a subscription plan to use our payroll services and additional features. However, in the case that you can no longer access your data, you do have the option to purchase QuickBooks Pro (one-time purchase) and open your company file from there.
Let me walk you through some of the differences in the programs.
Now that we've covered some of the basic differences between the two, let me walk you through the process of installing Pro and opening your company file.
To open the company file:
That's all there is to it. I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. Take care and have a wonderful day!
Hello, Tori B,
Thanks for your response. I understand the difference between the Pro & Plus.
Because I don't need the extra features of the Plus products and try to go back to the 2019 Pro. Your sale representative confirmed that if I don't renew the Plus by May 2021, although my 2019 Pro subscription is not expire until November 2021, the access will be disable.
I just don't understand why I have to renew the Plus subscription in order to have access to my Pro subscription.
