Quickbooks 2016 Server

I guess that I accidentally clicked on Multi-user- oops!  I corrected that but now I have a new unwanted guest called Quickbooks 2016 Server that will not let me shutdown my computer.  I have no idea how or where this quest came from - never been here before - but I want to delete it or at least keep it from controlling my desktop.  Please Help!   "Quit QB Server" is not an option available.

Quickbooks 2016 Server

Hi there, @2Cookies.

Welcome to the Community. I can assist you with fixing your QuickBooks 2016 server so you can shut down your computer and get you back to business.

You'll need to make sure that the multi-user mode has been turn off. Before doing that, you have to stop the application from sharing. This may be causing why you're unable to shut down your computer.

To do that:

  1. Go to your Application folder.
  2. Select on Stop Sharing.

Once done, you can go ahead turn off the multi user mode:

  1. Click on File.
  2. Select on Utilities.
  3. Then, Stop multi-user access.
  4. Click the Yes button.

You can also check out this article about fixing multi-user issues in QuickBooks Desktop for your reference: Troubleshoot multi-user issues for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If the problem continues, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the proper tools like screen-sharing to check your company file securely. This way they'll be able to isolate and verify what's causing the issue.

To reach them:

  1. In your browser, navigate to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Select the issue or topic.
  4. Click the Green Phone button to see the support number.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need additional assistance. Have a great weekend!

Quickbooks 2016 Server

Greetings, 2Cookies,

Thanks for getting back to us and sharing how the troubleshooting went. I want to ensure you're able to get past your Quickbooks 2016 Server issue.

Technically, the recommended steps provided by my peer @BettyJaneB should get past the problem. If you still run into the same hitch after following Solution 6: Set up a peer-to-peer direct connection, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Mac Care Support.

There they can provide additional workarounds to resolve the issue and can perform screen sharing sessions to isolate what's causing the problem. Here's how you can contact us:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Choose QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Click the Company File menu.
  4. Scroll down and click the Get Phone Number button.

That's should get you on the right track, 2Cookies. Please feel free to let me know on the outcome. I'm here if you need further assistance. Have a good one!
