Quickbooks 2019 stall - CPU race condition on open as of 6/25 - all computers

Tried to post this yesterday but the web page would not accept it, something happened yesterday causing 2019 to no longer respond when opening any files, on any computer, using any user or any QB login, local or on a shared drive. The login process is proper, the first screens show up, and then it freezes, with the CPU in a race condition maxing out usage. This happens on every computer with 2019. Intuit Repair Tool does not resolve. We have reports of this from numerous clients running QB 2019.

Do you still have IE on the machines? If not, please check other posts in regards to IE missing (MS moved to Edge) and how to fix, it's an easy fix

Quickbooks 2019 stall - CPU race condition on open as of 6/25 - all computers

Thanks for letting us know about this, @MEC2DFW. I'll be glad to take care of your concern so you can get through this, and access your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file.

If you have a backup file of your QBDT data, you can consider uninstalling the app and then try installing it again. Before doing so, I recommend taking note of your QuickBooks Desktop license number and product code because you'll still need them to complete the reinstallation of  your QBDT application. To begin, here's how:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select your version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to uninstall.
  4. Select Uninstall/Change and then Remove. Select Next.  If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back in to Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

Once done, feel free to refer to this article for the steps to successfully install QuickBooks Desktop: Install QuickBooks Desktop.

You'll then restore the backup file of your company file. For further guidance on how to restore a backup file, refer to this article: Restore a backup of your company file.

Additionally, If you can open a sample company but not your own, you'll want to copy your file to a different folder and then open it from the new location. If you can open your file, the problem might be a damage folder or folder permissions.

You may also visit this article for other available troubleshooting steps in case QuickBooks stopped working on your end: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.

Our door is open 24/7, @MEC2DFW if you still need further assistance accessing your QuickBooks Desktop company file. You can also post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. We'll be more than happy to have you here again. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
