Quickbooks Commerce only supports tax exclusive settings

Tax inclusive orders in Quickbooks Commerce are not allowed. European sales are tax inclusive - can't import order with VAT included. Looks like the software is suitable for US only. Is there anything being done about it?

Chat support said - nothing they can do...What's the point of QB Commerce if i have to create orders manually.

Also there's no product selection for Quickbooks Commerce. Are you planning on opening one, Intuit?

Have been very frustrated with QB Commerce since the day I migrated to it. Very undeveloped software.

Hi there, @KarinaKagramanova.

I can share information about automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online US can only cater US sales taxes. Thus, the option to import invoices with VAT info is unavailable. I suggest using our QBO UK or Global versions so you can perform the said task. From there, you also have the option to set the tax to either inclusive or exclusive.

You can review this article for more information about automated Sales tax: Set up and use automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have further questions. I'm always here to assist. Take care!

@KarinaKagramanova

If your company is not located in the US, QB Commerce doesn't suit for you no more. You have to explore another option.

Thank you for the information Mich. I'm talking about Quickbooks Commerce not QBO. Unfortunately i don't see a forum for QB Commerce product so i had to write it here. We can't afford setting up another QBO and Commerce account in the UK.

Hi, thank you :) I spent a month to create new QBO account and transfer all the data, create dozens of manual journal entries and match the books and still going through bumps in Commerce with other unresolved issues. Our company is based in US, but we're selling globally. Nobody from Commerce team said it would be an issue. Can't imagine switching to another accounting software 4 months after I moved to new QBO and Commerce. Spoke to the only guy who's been responsive from Commerce, he promised to provide some info. Even though the chat lady said - nothing they can do.

If a transaction is created using past dates, it will use your new rate.

Dealing with the same issue here. After months of planning and onboarding calls with "experts". Discussing everything, migrating last week with all sorts of issues finally had it set up and seemingly running.

Only to find out our sales orders in Europe are not importing due to the included tax issue. Was never mentioned by anyone when discussing the European part of our business.

What an absolute mess of a purchase/integration. Now NetSuite doesn't look as bad/expensive.

Hi there, Mark van de Burgt.

I can show you on how to setup your tax in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes.
  2. Select Add Tax.
  3. Modify the information and click Save.

Once done, you can now add VAT to your expense transactions. Let's simply follow these steps:

  1. Create an expense transaction.
  2. Once you're on  the page, click the Amount are drop-down arrow.
  3. Select either Exclusive of Tax or Inclusive of Tax.
  4. Enter the Tax amount under the TAX column.
  5. Click Save.

Here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can create a new tax rate: How do I set up sales GST/VAT rates and use them on forms? (International QBO).

I've also included this helpful article in case you need some ideas about managing the changes in your tax rate: Edit sales tax rate in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for coming back, @Mark van de Burgt

I appreciate you for performing the steps provided by my colleague. We can create a new tax rate instead of updating an existing one because the existing rate may have been used on prior transactions and changing the rate could affect your sales tax tracking. Here's how:

  1. In the Tax Centre, select Add Tax.
  2. Choose which type of tax rate you want to set up.
  3. Enter the details of your tax rate. If you need help with this screen, select the help button (yellow question mark).
  4. Select Save when finished.

If the same thing happens, we can perform some steps below to confirm browser-related issues:

  1. Try signing in to your QBO using a private or incognito window. (Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome browser, Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox browser, Command + Option + P for Safari browser).
  2. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue.
  3. You can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

Visit our Help Article page to learn more about running your business in your account.

I'd like to know how you get on after performing the steps as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

Appreciate the response but I do not have that option.

When I go to tax centre I can click "sales tax settings", "Economic Nexus".

Below I see the various states.

and below the reports.

When I click sales tax settings

I have "turn off sales tax", "Add agency", "add rate"

In add rate I still have to choose one of the US Tax agencies for the rate to be added.
