quickbooks data to trubotax. Software?

I use Quickbooks desktop pro 2020. I need to be able to transfer my books into turbotax, and have previously used turbotax online to file, I just found out that I cannot import my books. Wondering which software I need in order to import my quickbooks desktop pro 2020 file into my turbotax account. Thanks!

Hi there, @quinn1.

 

TurboTax for Windows Basic, Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business versions can import directly from the QuickBooks 2014-2020 Desktop software. I'll be happy to show you how. 

 

Before you start, please review the following requirements to complete the process:

  • Make sure the QuickBooks 2014-2020 software (downloadable or CD) is installed on your computer, along with TurboTax.
  • Your QuickBooks data file should be saved to your local drive, not on the network or cloud.
  • Make sure you've finished entering the tax year's financial info in QuickBooks, and that you've assigned tax lines to your accounts.
  • During the import, leave QuickBooks is running and keep your QuickBooks data file open.

Once done, refer to the steps below on how to transfer your Quickbooks data into Turbo Tax:

  1. Open your tax return in TurboTax.
  2. From the TurboTax File menu, select Import, then click From Accounting Software.
  3. Select QuickBooks (2020) and click Continue.
  4.  Follow the onscreen instructions.

Thank you so much for your time spent on these questions!  Learning a lot.

I imported all my info over, and what I ran into is, there is income from a job which I received as a sub contractor, so I was issued a 1099 misc. This income was categorized into QB Desktop as "income" so in the turbotax software this amount of income is included in my "gross" income, then, when I go add my 1099 misc to turbo tax, it adds that income again to my overall income. Did I categorize this wrong in QB?

When clicking on "Import", there is no "from accounting software". There is only "From Quickbooks". If you click there absolutely nothing happens.

When selecting "import" it only shows "From Quickbooks". When you click on there, absolutely nothing happens! Was on a long call today and shared my screen. Tech support saw this clicking didn't do anything. All kinds of other things were tried... nothing! Now I got a message that my ticket is closed??? Just because someone found this article -- and didn't check if it was tried. Do I have to start all over now by calling tech support?

I’m here to help fix the challenges you’ve encountered upon importing to another software in QuickBooks Desktop.  

 

There are some reasons why this occurs, which may cause damage data, and we can fix this by performing the Verify data and Rebuild utility tools in QuickBooks Desktop. This way, it'll return to its default order and automatically fixes minor company record data issues. Though, you need to back up your data first before performing these steps below to save your company data if file corruption happens. 

 

Let me show you how:    

 

Verify Data: 

 

  1. Press the File menu. 
  2. Choose Utilities from the drop-down option.  
  3. Select Verify Data
  4. Tap Ok to continue.    

 

 

 

Rebuild Data:

 

  1. Click the File tab at the top. 
  2. Select Utilities from the drop-down option. 
  3. Choose Rebuild Data
  4. Click Ok on Rebuild has completed.     

 

 

 

When the verify/rebuilding data finished, we can close and reopen your file to revamp it. Or restart your computer to refresh your QuickBooks data.

Am I blocked from posting now? I tried to reply 2 times, however, get an error message.  Following your lead a QBWin.log error. Called, was promised that the Data Service team would contact me by 6PM DPST. 

Nobody contacted me.

Followed your suggestions: A QBWin.log error.  

Followed the link from the report. Restore. Still error. 

Called and asked for Data Service team --> End result they would contact me by yesterday 6PM PST.

Was never contacted. Where to go from here?
