Quickbooks Desktop 2018 never loads

I'm working on Quickbooks Desktop 2018 (will be upgrading soon, but supposedly everything should still work until 5/31). Over the past couple of weeks, I haven't been able to get into my files. The program boots up just fine, I can enter my password, and it starts to open the file. The top menu loads (file, edit, view, lists, etc.) but every time I move my cursor over the qb window it just turns into the loading circle. I can't click on anything or move the window. Every day I open the program, let it sit for 30 minutes, close it though task manager, and try again. There's no error messages or anything, and the longest I've let it sit is over 3 hours. Everything else on my computer (windows 10 with latest updates) is working normally.

I am working at home through google remote desktop and accessing the files on an in office server. One of my coworkers is staying at the office, and he says he's able to access the files just fine.

Quickbooks Desktop 2018 never loads

Thank you for reaching out to us here, JSchorr95.

When QuickBooks has stopped working, here are the possible causes:

  • Your company name may be too long
  • You may have a damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
  • You may have corruption on your hard drive
  • Your program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged
  • You may have a damaged Windows operating system

Let's make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release. Then, run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

You can download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and view the other solutions in this article: Solutions for when QuickBooks has stopped working.

Please keep me updated on how it goes after trying out the solutions. I'll be right here to help you until a solution is found. Take care and stay safe!
