When I am in an estimate (and also in a purchase order, or an invoice) and I would like to edit a certain line, when I click that line, if it is not the very first line of the estimate QuickBooks automatically jumps my cursor back to the top line. (We are using the Desktop Enterprise Solutions 19.0, multi-user.)
I have to keep clicking where I want to go, and each time I click, QuickBooks jumps back up, but a line down each time, getting closer to the destination cell I want to edit. It is EXTREMELY frustrating to simple edit or create an estimate or invoice!
This happens whether I am starting one from scratch, or I have copied a previous estimate and am editing that.
Is there ANY way to fix this???
Hello @klnst3,
Let me help resolve the cursor issue that jumps back or moving on its own in QuickBooks. I want to ensure that you can successfully create an estimate for your customers.
To start with, let's repair the installation permission of QuickBooks. Make sure to close it before following the steps below:
Once done, you can consider restarting your computer before opening QuickBooks. In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about how the Repair tool works: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
Lastly, I've got you this helpful article for steps about the different methods you can start using in accepting payment from your customers: Record an invoice payment in QuickBooks Desktop.
If there's anything else that I can help you with, let me know in the comments. I'll be here to lend a hand.
Will it affect other users if I run a repair on mine? Is this the only fix for this issue? I ask because this has been an issue for years. I honestly just thought it's how QuickBooks worked. I'm just finally fed up with it. But our QuickBooks has been repaired before for other issues in the past and this issue was never fixed by a repair...
Thank you for adding a response, @klnst3.
When running the repair tool in QuickBooks Desktop, yes, the changes will also affect the other users as long as you're working on the same computer. I understand that you've already repaired the installation in the past yet the issue continues. At this time, you can perform it again to see the result. If that doesn't make any difference, try opening a sample company file and see if the same behavior happens when creating an estimate or invoice.
Here's how:
If that works fine from there, the issue is within your company file. That said, you can do the verify and rebuild process to fix and resolves the most commonly known data issues within a company file. For your guide, check out the details from this link: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
These articles also contain additional instructions on how to fix data issues within a company. You can read the details from here as your guides:
