Quickbooks desktop BEEP when saving a bill

I have BEEPS enabled in my Edit>Preferences>General>Beep when recording a transaction.

My system beeps for everything but this - I swear it used to do this for entering a bill too, but now it doesn't. Is it normal to not beep for entering bills?

 

I turned it off, clicked ok, then turned it on again and no change.

Once you turned on the Beep when recording a transaction function, it should beep when recording bills. 

 

Let me share some basic troubleshooting steps that will help you get back this function. 

 

To start, update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. This will help us refresh the software so you always have the latest features and fixes. Here's how:
 

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now tab. 
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  5. Accept the option to install the new release when prompted.

 

If you're still unable to hear the beep sound, install QuickBooks Tool Hub. This is where you can get the tools we have to help fix QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) issues. 

After recording what you owe in QBDT, go to the Pay Bills window to settle your payables.

Quickbooks desktop BEEP when saving a bill

The software is always up to date with the latest release, so I'm not sure what's going on. Everything else beeps. I can't use tool hub due to our software is hosted remotely and is not allowed.

Since the beep is already active in the My Preferences menu, you’ll want to check if you have a speaker attached to your computer and ensure that the volume is enabled. Otherwise, check the QBDT app itself if it's muted. Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Edit menu and then select Preferences
  2. Click Desktop View from the menu.
  3. Select Sounds under the Windows Settings section. 
  4. Update the sounds and make it set it to default.
  5. Click OK and then OK again. 


If you're still unable to make it work, I suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Desktop support. They can provide additional troubleshooting and can run some diagnosis to identify this unexpected behavior.

Currently, the option to enable a sound effect when saving a transaction in QuickBooks Online is unavailable. 

 

I can see how this functionality would be beneficial to your business. That said, I recommend sending your thoughts about adding a sound effect when saving a transaction in QBO to our developers. Ideas like this help identify the features our customers want the most for consideration in future enhancements. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit them.
