Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2021 and My Time.app don't seem to work together

I'm trying to upgrade to Quickbooks for Mac 2021, but I can't seem to get the new version to talk to My Time.app (version 1.1f439). I can't figure it out. I've tried opening our old .imt file, which hasn't worked (it says "Please start QuickBooks and try again...You need to start QuickBooks to update your lists and submit time.") I also can't create a new IMT file, because it says "The file currently open is: None." (The word "None" and the period are in red).

We need to be able to use My Time, as that's how we've been tracking our time for years.

Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2021 and My Time.app don't seem to work together

Ok, I was able to solve my own problem. For anyone who uses Quickbooks 2020 for Mac and My Time for time tracking, the process is to:

1. Backup your Quickbooks company file (ending .qb2021) and My Time files (ending in .imt).

2. Uninstall My Time.app version 1.1.f439.

3. Download the new version of My Time.app (currently Version 1.2.0.444) here: https://http-download.intuit.com/http.intuit/Downloads/Mac/MyTime/1.2.x/download/index.html (which no one tells you exists unless you first uninstall My Time and then go to Employees>Download My Time; also note that the download link doesn't seem to work with Chrome, but does work with Firefox).

4. (optional if you want to keep your old My Time data) Open your imt file(s) with a text editor like TextEdit, and change the company file XML tag from qb2020 to qb2021. Mine was:

<object type="IDENTITY" id="z102">
<attribute name="employeename" type="string">XXXXX XXXXX</attribute>
<attribute name="companyfilename" type="string">/Users/XXXXXX/Documents/QuickBooks/XXXXXX.qb2021</attribute>"

5. Close Quickbooks again and save another backup (just to be careful).

6. Open Quickbooks. Open My Time.

Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2021 and My Time.app don't seem to work together

Hello there, @remaia. I'm here to share some details about the issue of the My Time App with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Mac.

I appreciate you joining this thread and sharing the outcome of the steps you've performed. I can see that you did everything you could to resolve this. To begin, could you tell me the version of your QBDT Mac program?

If it is 2022, I've checked this on our end and found out that there's an ongoing investigation (INV-70358) about the My Time App being unavailable for the program. Rest assured that our product developers are reviewing this matter and will provide updates as soon as possible.

As a workaround, you can record the time manually from within the QuickBooks software by using the Time Tracking feature under the Employees menu. For reference, check this article: Enter timesheet in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Then, I highly recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Mac support team to add your account to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be able to receive news and updates about the investigation via email. They can also provide additional steps to help you recover the lost time data.

If not, you can reach out to our Technical support team to further verify the root cause of the issue. Once connected, you can request a screen-sharing session so they can review your set up.

I've also added the following links to help you install the My Time app in your QuickBooks program:

Please keep me posted on how the recommendation goes. I want to ensure you'll be able to record time in QBDT Mac seamlessly. Have a good one and keep safe always.

I cannot get My Time to work with QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2024. It is hard to get someone on the phone who even knows what My Time is.
