I'm here to share some information about multi-user mode, ksgrentals.
A multi-user network won't affect the connection of the computers if the server is in sleep mode and the setup is correct.
You may follow these steps in setting up a multi-user environment in QuickBooks Desktop.
To begin, you'll have to turn on your hosting mode. You'll need to do this only on the server computer. You must not turn on hosting for workstations.
Here's how to turn it on:
- Go to the File menu, and then select Utilities.
- Select Multi-User Access.
- Click Yes to confirm.
Once done, let's run the QuickBooks Data Manager on the server so workstations can access the file.
- Go to your server computer (the file is stored).
- Click the Start menu, and then type Database.
- Select QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
- If you can't see your folder location, click Browse, and then choose your company file.
- Click OK.
- Select Start Scan. This will repair your firewall permission to allow QuickBooks to communicate your network.
- Click Close, and then try opening QuickBooks in Multi-user mode on your workstations.
