Quickbooks Online Desktop App end of Life

So as of April 20th, Intuit is getting rid of the QuickBooks online desktop app? Is some different app coming to replace it? The difference in being able to use it in a the app and the browser is huge. I have trouble when I need multiple tabs/windows when logged in through a browser, and the app was huge game changer in terms of efficiency.

Quickbooks Online Desktop App end of Life

Hey there, @William Lavasque.

Yes, you're right, QuickBooks Online desktop app for Windows and Mac will be decommissioned on April 20th, 2021. Thus, you will no longer be able to download, receive customer support for, or receive software updates to the apps after this date.

Once your browser no longer supports your app, we recommend accessing QuickBooks Online through your preferred browser by signing in at  qbo.intuit.com

The reason behind this is that our developers are developing free apps to give users a more integrated experience for using QBO outside of the browser.

In the meantime, I recommend visiting our Firm of the Future site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

Thank you for trusting QuickBooks with your accounting needs. We appreciate your business and are committed to ensuring your success with our products and services.

Quickbooks Online Desktop App end of Life

The Desktop App for QBO is a game changer. Using QB via a browser is painful. There is no way to control how often you have to log in - I get timed out all day long, and having to re-log in is a waste of time. And as mentioned by the original poster, the tab labels become indistinguishable when there are many tabs open. When I use the App, I always have from 3 to 6 tabs open at once. In the App I can clearly see which tab is Bank Transactions vs. Customers, etc. I don't have to click on multiple tabs to find the one I need. In a browser environment it's a crap shoot trying to find the correct tab.

Your "excuse" that "The reason behind this is that our developers are developing free apps to give users a more integrated experience for using QBO outside of the browser." is laughable. QuickBooks Online Desktop App for Windows (and Mac) is already a "free app" that allows us to use "QBO outside of the browser".

When is this this mythical free app you speak of going to be rolled out to customers? Why would you take away our current (well functioning) free app that allows us to use QBO outside of the browser BEFORE you roll out this improved (and I'm guessing imaginary) new free app? From a product development standpoint that makes NO sense!
