Quickbooks Online - Plus Icon not working on Chrome

OSX Catalina

Chrome:  Version 78.0.3904.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Clicking the + icon darkens the screen and changes to an X, but otherwise does not bring up the usual menu.   This is a new install of Chrome, no extensions.  The only change is that I disabled the popup blocker for Intuit, thinking this might fix the problem, no luck

Our workaround is to run QBO on Safari instead, but it would be nice to have a Chrome option.

Quickbooks Online - Plus Icon not working on Chrome

Welcome back to the Community, @AirKevin.

Since the issue persists after performing those troubleshooting steps you've mentioned, let's try logging into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox or Internet Explorer).
  • Control + Option + P (Safari).

Once signed in, go back to the Plus icon to double-check. If it works, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. However, if the same thing happens, try using other supported browsers.

Please let me know in the comments if you have any other issues or concerns. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Have a good one!

Worked in Incognito, so I cleared Chrome Browsing Data completely.   Now works perfectly.   Thank you, so much, I should have tried that in the first place.     All good now.

Quickbooks Online - Plus Icon not working on Chrome

Hello there, @Kelley75002.

I'll help you resolve the issue of your QuickBooks Online account plus icon that is not working in Firefox browser.

The stored files in your browser are typically the source of unexpected behavior or failures in QBO. Your cache saves the files from many websites you visit, so you can quickly load the pages the following time. The browsing speed of websites like QBO may be impacted if the cache is retaining too much data.

It's a good idea to check for issues brought on by a full cache when browsing anonymously because doing so prevents the cache from recording your browsing data. You may also try to use other browsers.

  • Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N

If the steps above will not work, you can use supported browsers as an alternative.

If the given procedures are successful, I advise you to clear the cache in your browser to avoid utilizing outdated forms, safeguard your data, and improve the performance of our programs on your computer.

Otherwise, I recommend reaching out our Customer Care team.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help (?) icon.
  2. On the Assistant tab, enter Talk to a human.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern and press Enter.
  4. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  5. Choose how you'll want to get in touch with the support.
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a call back from the next available expert.

Before doing so, check their support hours to know their availability to reach them at your convenient time.

For future reference, I'm adding this article to help you categorize transactions: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
