QuickBooks Online Plus - Inventory Build Assemblies

I've been using the inventory build assembly function however, every time I build an assembly, QB takes 10 minutes to enter the transaction. Sometimes it just freezes and stops working. Did anyone else have the same issue? How do you get around this? It's really inefficient in a manufacturing environment to have to deal with this...

In Desktop, back up the file then use the main menu File>Utilities>Rebuild and  run it as many times as necessary (but at least 3 times) until it completes, then run verify (if there are still errors run rebuild again), then close QB and re-open it and see if it helps

Re: QuickBooks Online Plus - Inventory Build Assemblies

Hi mitishap,

Let's update your QuickBooks to see if this improves the performance of the program.

  1. Click on Help and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update button.
  3. Make sure you place a checkmark on the Critical Fixes update from the list. It's in the last part of the updates list.
  4. Place a check mark in the Reset updates checkbox.
  5. Choose Get Updates.

Please also check your computer features to see they are within the system requirements of the QuickBooks Enterprise flavor especially the RAM. An insufficient RAM will cause the program to run slow.

I'm just around if you need more help.

Re: QuickBooks Online Plus - Inventory Build Assemblies

Should have mentioned that I am using QB hosting so the software is on RightNetwork - does that change anything?

Thank you for getting back to us, @mitishap.

There are multiple ways to resolve performance issues in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me provide them to you to fix this.

In QuickBooks, as your company file increases, the performance decreases. But you can easily resolve these by performing some troubleshooting steps.

Don't worry, you can still follow these options even though you're using RightNetworks. Here are some ways to resolve performance issues:

  • Reduce the size of the company file
  • Set company and personal preferences
  • Optimize QuickBooks operations
  • Maintain lists

One way to reduce the size of your company file is to run the Condense Data utility. Note that when you condense your data, this can't be reversed.

You may follow the steps below:

  1. Click on File from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Utilities, then click on Condense Data.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Working on your file now will appear.
  5. A pop-up will now show the total reduction in your file size and location of the backup.

You can view these articles for other ways and for further details:

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other concerns. I'll be around to help.

Re: QuickBooks Online Plus - Inventory Build Assemblies

Thank you so much, the verify data allowed me to see all the errors, I had to adjust some errors myself (they seem to be due to rounding errors in the inventory build) as the rebuild was not working but once I did that, it was all good to go for a rebuild!

Why rebuild 3 times in a row?
