Quickbooks Online Search Engine

I have switched from Quick books Desktop to Mac 2016 to Quick books online. With the 2016 software I previously had I was able to search just about anything that was on a customers Invoice and it would pop up. For example, I could hold down Command and F key and type in customers name and boom it would pop up. If a customer walks in I would like to pull up their invoice by there name. When I make an invoice I am using the customers name tab typing in Retail to keep all of it separate from my others.

But now that I have Quick books online it is not allowing me to do the same thing.

Is there a way I can edit the search engine and get the same results as I did on desktop?

When I make an invoice the only place I type in a customers name is in the shipping to:

Can I search it that way?

Quickbooks Online Search Engine

Hello there, @llindsley74.

Thanks for sharing the details of what you're trying to achieve today. I know how you want to edit the search engine the way how QuickBooks Desktop does when looking for customers.

At the moment, we're unable to edit that. However, you can search your customers easily by holding down CTRL+F (for windows) or Command+F (for Mac) in the Customer's lists. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales tab from the left menu.
  2. Select Customers
  3. Press CTRL+F or Command+F and start typing your customer's name.

Just in case you'll need to keep track of your activities in the future, read through this article: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online
