I was told to compress data before moving to the 2020 version of Quickbooks. The desktop version is fine. When we uploaded to the online version , the data brought in shows accounts that were closed 8-10 years ago. This throws all balances off.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

The QB experts were not much help.

Have you run the Condense Data utility?

Let's condensed your file as what Fiat Lux - ASIA shared above, 42111.

Before converting your file, we'll have to condense it. This way, you'll have the option to remove the audit trail. I'll show you how:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. From the Utilities menu, select Condense Data.
  3. Select the first radio button, and then Next.
  4. In the About your company file window, click Close.

Afterward, let's reimport the data into your QuickBooks Online account.

Once everything's fine, you can categorize and reconcile the transactions to review them. Here are articles as your guide to do it:

I'm just around the corner to help you. Keep safe!
