I have been using QB Plus via the Mac app for a couple of years. Intuit ended support for that app last month, and posted a new app for download. It's been a disaster. To install it, I was told to change Mac's security settings to allow it to install. Something that it should not need to do. I finally gave in and tried it, but the QB App wanted access to my keychain, iCloud account, Root folder and on and on. Way beyond what and software typically asks for and against basic security protocols. The installer froze and a force-quit and restart resulted in losing everything on my hard drive. I had to reinstall my OS and everything else and have been forced to use QB Online since. But QB Online is so incredibly slow, it runs at mid 1990's dial-up speed. Not an exaggeration. Just trying to scroll thru a report and take to minutes to get to the bottom of a page. I tried to pay bills today and gave up as the lag between when when I would click on a check-box and it registering on-screen was driving me insane. QB service chats have not gotten me an answer or suggestion. Just links to download the same version of the app that does not work. Any suggestions? I cannot function like this. QB has dropped Mac support before and their Mac products rarely had all the features of the Windows versions, but this is unusable. Help community!!
Hello, @john2001.
Thanks for posting your question here. I'd be glad to lend a hand with your QB Online app running slow.
Let's make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for the QuickBooks Online app for Mac. If you're able to verify that the conditions are met, we can start clearing the cache in your QuickBooks app to refresh the connection.
Here's how:
If you're still experiencing this, you can clear the app's cache by going to File in the upper left corner, then Clear Cache.
Let me know if the steps above did the trick. If you have any more questions, I'm always here. Happy Wednesday!
Thanks for the info Kendra!
My Mac is a MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB Solid-state hard drive and a 2.9 GHz I7 Processor. So hardware is fine. The OS is Catalina 10.15.13 which is beyond what Intuit lists on the link. That may be the problem. When using the app (up until Intuit got rid of it a couple weeks ago) I found I had to Reset App Data every time I would walk away from the computer for 5 minutes and would clear the cache a lot.
But after having to replace the app I am stuck. I cannot use the old app that worked. The new app requires disabling Mac OS Security to install, and then essentially disabled the computer by wiping out my keychain and permissions. Talking to Apple, they say the reason is Intuit did not build the app to its Catalina standards. Despite now 5 attempts, I have not gotten any answer or help out of Intuit.
So I have had to use QB Online thru my Safari browser, no app, and it is unworkably slow.
