Quickbooks POS Inventory Item Number Posting Duplicate

I have been having this issue for a while off and on.  When adding an item into my POS inventory, the POS system is adding the item twice in error.  It will have the exact same item number and information but only one has the inventory amount.  I am having to go back each time I add an item to inventory and delete one of the duplicate listings.  Anyone else have this issue and how did you correct it?  Thank you in advance!

You're already on the right track in correcting a duplicate inventory item in QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS), @bemadeinc. Let me share further details about this.

 

Here are some of the possible reasons inventory items were duplicated in QuickBooks POS:

  • Items were imported following an incorrect import process.
  • Initial setup of Store Exchange in which both Headquarters and Remote Stores each had their inventory.

 

When duplicate items occur, you'll have the option to delete or merge them and/or restore the most recent back-up copy of your company file. You can delete duplicated items if there are no transactions associated with them. Then, once they're already linked to any transactions, the merge option is applicable.

 

Please note that it's better to create a back-up copy of your company file before performing any troubleshooting steps. This would come in handy for future use.
