Quickbooks Premier 2020 Desktop Freezes Clicking On Help

During install of Quicken Premier 2020 R4 when asked to select an industry type, if I click the link for 'Can I change it later' the installation will freeze. After restarting the install and selecting 'Contractor Edition' the install finishes fine if I don't click any of the help links. I start the program, click the 'Help' menu and if I click 'Support' or 'Quickbooks Desktop Help (F1)' or press the F1 key the program will freeze indefinitely.

After running the ToolHub program, 'Quick Fix' does not help. The 'Program Diagnostic Tool' returns the error 'EXEAdapter Error' with Failed Component: vc_redist.x64

I've uninstalled every version of vc_redist on the computer, then reinstalled the software after chosing 'Clean Install' from the ToolHub program. This will allow the 'Program Diagnostic Tool' to complete its process but still does not fix the issue.

Windows 10 Enterprise 64-Bit, Intel Core i5-7600K @ 3.80 GHZ, 16 GB RAM, 200+ GB Free Space on M.2 SSD Hard Drive

I bought this software to get away from the problems of Quicken H&B 2017 but I can't even get the help menu to work right

Thanks for any insight!

James

Quickbooks Premier 2020 Desktop Freezes Clicking On Help

Thanks for coming to the Community for help, @Garman91x.

There are several possible reasons why QuickBooks freezes when performing some tasks in the program. They include:

  • The company file name is too long.
  • Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file.
  • There’s corruption on your hard drive.
  • The program files or QBDT installation may be damaged.
  • Damaged Windows operating system.

Let’s run the QuickBooks Refresher Tool to fix minor issues on the software. Make sure to end all the processes running in the background before performing the steps below.

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Refresher Tool and save it on your desktop.
  3. Run the tool.
  4. Open QuickBooks again.

If you continue to get the same result, I recommend utilizing the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. This can help resolve Microsoft component related issues that the program uses. Here’s how:

  1. Click this link to download the tool: QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.
  2. Save it to your desktop.
  3. Close all open programs and run the tool.
  4. Once done, restart the computer to ensure the components are properly updated.

Right after, open QBDT and navigate to the Help menu. If the problem persists, I recommend performing the rest of the solutions provided in this article: What to do if you can’t open QuickBooks Desktop.

I’m also adding this resource for future reference in case you encounter the EXEAdapter Error again when trying out the troubleshooting steps above: Resolve the installer encountered an error, EXEAdapter error, or error 61686 when installing QuickBo...
