quickbooks pro 2017

Today I downloaded an update for quickbooks pro 2017. After the update I cannot get quickbooks to open at all. Ive tried the tool hub, which becomes unresponsive, ive tried holding ctrl while clicking the icon, and ive tried the quickbooks file repair. None have worked. any ideas??? im at my wits end.

Great job for performing the recommended steps so you can open QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

Let's try one more option to fix this by renaming the QuickBooks Desktop installation folders. Just a heads up, this should only be done by an IT professional.

 

Before proceeding, please back up your company file to prevent data from accidental loss.

Once done, you can follow the steps below in renaming the folder:

  1. Display hidden files and folders.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu and search for “File Explorer”, then open it.
  3. Find and open the folder that holds your QuickBooks company files. This is usually your QuickBooks folder in one of these locations:
        - C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
        - C:\Users\(current user)\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
        - C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
        - 64-bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
  4. Right-click the folder and pick Rename.
  5. Add the word "old" at the end of the folder name. This prevents QuickBooks from trying to open it when you reinstall.

If you get an access error message when you try to rename the folder:

  1. Right-click the Windows Task Bar, then select Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Processes tab.
  3. Click the Name column header to sort the list.
  4. Select the following processes and then End Process for each: QBDBMgrN.exe, QBDBMgr.exe, QBCFMonitorService.exe, Qbw32.exe.
  5. Select Yes if you see the message, "WARNING: Terminating a process can cause undesired results..."
