1099-nec & 1099-misc tax line mapping

I am trying to set up new accounts to separate my 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC accounts in quickbooks desktop 2020, but I do not see Tax-line mapping in new account setup.  How do I set up the accounts to post to the correct type of 1099 account.

1099-nec & 1099-misc tax line mapping

Hello there, NK1.

You should be able to set up new accounts to separate my 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC accounts in QuickBooks Desktop 2020. We can run the Verify and Rebuild Utility to fix the unexpected behavior is due to data or file corruption. Here's how:

Verify Utility:

  1. Click File at the top.
  2. Select Utilities
  3. From the list, choose Verify Data.

Rebuild Data:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Click on Utilities
  3. Tap the Rebuild Data option.

Also, you can check these articles for additional information and reference about filing 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop:

Please post again if you have other questions or need further assistance. Take care and stay safe always.

1099-nec & 1099-misc tax line mapping

Hello knapiks!

Let me show you how to map the accounts for 1099 in QuickBooks Desktop.

When preparing 1099, we need to select the account you used in tracking the payment and assign it to the appropriate box. This is to ensure that the payments will be reported correctly.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu, select 1099 Forms, then Print/E-file 1099 Forms.
  2. Choose either 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC, then click Get started.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps until you're on the third step that says Map vendor payment accounts.
  4. On the Apply payments to this 1099 box section, select the account you want to link the payment to.
  5. Continue with the on-screen instruction to complete it.

Please note that one account can only be used for one type of 1099. You can check this article for your reference: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.

Also, here's the link if you need help in changing the accounts you used in tracking 1099 payments: Modify your chart of accounts for your 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC filing.

Comment again to this thread if you need more assistance in preparing tax forms. Thanks!
