Accountant's Desktop

Greetings, @Rick Harris.

I'm here to share some information so you'd be able to access your clients' QuickBooks company files remotely.

First, you'd want to make sure that your clients have set up a cloud hosting service for you to be able to access their company file remotely. Once set up, they can provide you with a user account company file. Here's how they can grant you access:

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Choose Set Up Users and Passwords
  3. Click Set Up Users.
  4. Select Add User.
  5. Let them enter your credentials. Click Next.
  6. Set the type of access they want them to give you. Click Next.
  7. Once done, click Finish.

You can read through this article to learn more about the process: Hosting your company data in multi-user mode in QuickBooks Desktop.

Also, I'm adding these articles as an additional reference in managing your client's company file:

Keep me posted if you have other questions or concerns. I'm always here to help.

You are unable to connect your client's QBW file directly on your QBD Accountant application. They have to create the accountant's file and send it to you. Another option, they may deploy a private cloud (e.g for a limited time) to let you access their file by internet connection any time you need to.
