I import some items from abroad and would like to add a percentage to my PO total to account for currency fluctuations.
This saves me having to recalculate item prices constantly.
I created a "currency adjustment" item as a percentage, but the software won't let me put it on a PO, for some reason.
Is there another way to accomplish this?
Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this, byomtov.
Currently, there isn't a feature for adding percentages to existing purchase orders. I can see how this would be useful, and have submitted feedback so that it's considered in future updates.
As a workaround, currency adjustments can be made by editing a record's corresponding bill. However, before making such an adjustment, I recommend speaking with your accounting professional to verify accuracy. If you need an accountant, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find an Accountant.
Here's how it's used.
1. Go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/find-an-accountant/.
2. In the Find an expert in section, choose what you're looking for, then use your search field to enter a City or ZIP code.3. Select Search.
4. Review the results and find one that works best for your business. You can click on each ProAdvisor's profile to learn more information about them.
Once you've found an accountant, they can be contacted through their Send a message form:
1. Use your available text box to introduce yourself. Be sure to include details about the services you're looking for.
2. Enter the appropriate info in the Your name, Your email, and Your phone number (optional) fields.
3. Hit Send message.
I've also included a few helpful resources about working with purchase orders:

Thanks for the response.
I'm surprised, and consider this a significant flaw that should be fixed, and fixed quickly. It can't be hard.
Not a problem, byomtov! The Community is always here to help.
Your feedback is certainly valuable to Intuit, and will be reviewed by our Product Development Team. While I've submitted a suggestion about this myself, keep in mind that you can always submit one as well while signed in.
Here's how:
1. In your top menu bar, click the Help drop-down.
2. Move your cursor over Send Feedback Online, then select Product Suggestion....

Hi ZackE,
Do you know if this is on the list of updates or has been updated since the original post? I'm currently in the exact same boat and received a "surcharge %" increase that goes on each PO and will vary as the months go on. Currently we have to calculate manually and enter the surcharge amount on the line item because when using a percentage we get the following error: "You cannot use items with percentage rates here."
This is EXTREMELY time consuming in a drop ship model and processing 150+ orders every day.
Please let me know if it's on the docket or if there's any other workarounds.
Thanks!
Thanks for joining us here in the Community, @da84.
I can see the convenience of having the option to add surcharge % on your existing POs in the system. However, the said option is currently unavailable as stated by my peer above.
For now, you may continue calculating the percentage of the surcharge manually and enter it as a whole number on the line item.
