Back up opened, PO Done, now says Abort!!!

I'm totally lost!   Copied QB Desktop Pro from old laptop to new laptop.  Have problem on new laptop with Email so I did a backup copy of the QB file off the new computer----took it to the old one--saved it in Intuit.   I opened it....checked that it had picked up all the files since I transferred it (old laptop on PO 29...and new one thru PO 47)...all there.   Created new PO 48, sent it to my supplier---all successful to this point.    Then QB freezes....I have screen saying the connection to the company file has been lost.      There's an Abort or Tell Me More and the Tell Me More doesn't work.

Back up opened, PO Done, now says Abort!!!

Hi there, @Anonymous.

Thanks for letting me know about the error that you received. I'm here to help share some steps so you can get past to this issue and get back to business.

The abort error is can be caused by the following reasons:

  • This error occurs when damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI files, hardware issues or a damaged Windows.
  • Corrupted hard drive.
  • Program files getting damaged.
  • Some pending Update of QuickBooks for the latest version or some kind of damage to the Windows operating system.
  • This error occurs when a firewall and Antivirus installed in your system clashing with the QuickBooks processes and making QuickBooks abort its current task.
  • Configurations of different versions of QuickBooks clashing within a more than one user setup.
  • This error occurs when multiple computers hosting the QuickBooks company file.
  • The computer is saving the company files and that time sleep or hibernation mode is turned on.

To fix this, let's perform some troubleshooting steps using QuickBooks File Doctor. Here's how:

  1. Download and install the QuickBooks File Doctor.
  2. Launch the tool by double clicking the icon on your desktop.
  3. View the results.
  • If you see No problem detected in your Company File, your company file is OK. If you still see the error, Verify your company data file, and rebuild it if necessary. See Resolve data damage issues (basic troubleshooting) to perform a Verify and Rebuild.
  • If the tool detects data damage, you can:
    • Repair the file. The tool will tell you if it fixed your file.
    • Restore recently backed up company file.
    • Recover lost data with QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery
    • Send your company file to our Data Recovery Team. To request data recovery service from Intuit Data Services, contact QuickBooks Technical Support.

That should do it.
