Can I use the chart of accounts import to add multiple new expense accounts to my existing chart?

I am trying to add multiple new expense accounts to my chart of accounts (80 or so) in order to get more detailed reporting.  Can I use the chart of accounts import function to do this or will it overwrite my current chart of accounts?  Using Quickbooks Online.

Hi @Mrichards26,

I'll answer this question for you.

Yes, you can use the Chart of Accounts (COA) import feature. There isn't a need to worry about any overwrites as well. You can retain whatever accounts you have in your COA prior to the import process.

Check out this article for the steps: Import your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online

In case you need to type in opening balances for some of your imported accounts, take a look at this article: Enter an opening balances for an account in QuickBooks Online

Feel free to ask in the comments below if you have other questions about the import process in QBO. I'll answer them for you as soon as I can.
