I have Quicken Home & Business 2017 Desktop. I want to convert the quicken files to my Quickbooks Pro 2017 desktop.  The "convert" utility in Quickbooks is not working. It presents an "unrecoverable error". After several days of trying different things I called Quickbooks. After 30 minutes I finally got the "answer", but I'm not sure I believe it.  I was told I had to pay $89.99 to convert because it was earlier than 2018!!!!!

Hi cvala,

You'll want to download and install the Quicken 2017 Converter tool so you can convert your Quicken files.

Here's how:

  1. Launch the downloaded Quicken Converter, then click Next.
  2. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then choose Next.
  3. To start the installation of the Quicken Converter, select Next, then Install.
  4. Select Launch Quicken Converter, then Finish.
  5. Choose I am transferring data from Quicken for Windows, then select Get Started.
  6. Select Open a data file located on this computer, then Select File.
  7. Browse to select your Quicken file (.QDF) file and select OK.
  8. Click Convert it!, then select OK.
  9. To save your new Quicken Data File (.QDF) file, select Save, then select Exit.

After you've upgraded to a compatible version of Quicken, you can now start converting using the Conversion Utility in QuickBooks.

I have added this link for your future reference: Account Management.

If you have any other concerns about QuickBooks, please let me know so that I can help.

I don't know why my reply to you isn't showing up here, I'm new to this forum but it seems confusing in the organization.  Anyway, here's what I posted after you replied:

I can't use the Quicken converter tool . It says the .net framework is not installed (It is). I tried downloading .net but it says it's already installed. I reinstalled Quicken and tried the converter again, same thing, it says .net not installed. Any ideas would be appreciated. I've been at this for 2 weeks and may just have to give up and go to a different software. Thanks

@Anonymous

You may have something wrong with Windows .NET. You need to fix it prior to convert the data file. Should you interest, create a dummy file on your Quicken and upload it on GDrive for me

Thanks for your quick response, @Anonymous.

The option to convert files from the Quicken 2017 to QuickBooks Pro 2017 is no longer supported in our system. This is the reason why the Quicken converter tool cannot detect the .net framework

If you still want to convert these files, I recommend connecting with our data services. They are the ones who have the tools to convert files from Quicken 2018 and below. You can reach out to them by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Help icon and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  4. We’ll provide you a few support options. Select which one is best for you.

If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help you.

I finally accessed Quickbooks from a different computer and was able to convert Quicken Home and Business 2017 to my Quickbooks 2017 Desktop.  I have not figured out why it wouldn't work on my desktop computer but I'm now able to proceed. Thanks for all your input!
