Join nowHello, I have a question regarding a data file located on a computer that I want to access from another computer on the same network, but save just that original file as the working file. I am a fairly new user to quick books, so I'll do my best to explain below...
I have computer A and computer B. A is the computer that has the data files, backups, etc. Computer B is new, and will be used exactly like Computer A with the same program and it has access to the same files from Computer A. The files are visible on the network, shareable, accessible, etc. When I open the file from Computer B and edit it in quick books, I'd like to save it to the same location, just overwriting that same file, which I can do, however it also creates a file in the local computer (B). How can I prevent quick books from saving the file on B other than where I want it saved on Computer A? Thank you in advance
Andy

Based on the scenario, we’ll have to make sure the computers are properly mapped. This way, it will not create another file on the local computer.

To set up QuickBooks:
Next, set up folder permissions on the server computer. For detailed instructions and to finish the setup, perform Steps 2-7 in this article: Set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop.
