How do I update from 2010 QB desktop to QB self employed latest version?

Hello,

I read in the last couple of pages of the "QB guide to converting QB desktop to QB online"  that with my 2010 Simple Start desktop version I could download a free trial of QB 2018 and convert my files over, then upgrade to 2020 version from there.

I tried  following the hot link to the free 2018 version but it seems non existent.

What should I do to update from my SS 2010 version to QB online SE?

I tried using the Chat help but I immediately was sent to "Sales" to pitch a purchase without their complete understanding of my concern and desire.

Any guidance  would be appreciated.

Thanks much, Ron

As I mentioned above, you should call and ask IDS to convert your QBD SS directly to QBO SS. But due to the limitation of some data conversion, I would recoomend you to secure your QuickBooks Desktop data file (i.e Pro 2020) for future reference. You may upgrade it on trial license for every 3 years if you want to keep the record.

QBSE is a stand alone product. There is no migration path yet. Consider using QBO instead

To migrate from your current QBD SS to Pro 2020, you have two options:

1. Call and ask Intuit Data Service to convert it

2. Should you need to resolve it in due course, consider purchasing a 3rd party conversion service.

Hope it helps.

Thank you Fiat Lux,

Thank you for you time and I very much appreciate your input.

I do have a question though: Will I be able to migrate files from my 2010 SS to QBO SS ?

Do you happen to know if one purchases the QBO SS that migrate instructions compliment the purchase or does one typically spend time over the phone with QB tech/Data service??

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
