If I change the default invoice template it changes the form for previously raised invoices. How can I stop it doing this?

Re: If I change the default invoice template it changes the form for previously raised invoices. ...

I just talked to Quickbooks and they confirmed that if you change the default template it will go in and change the form for any existing unpaid invoices (where the default was selected).  I need to manually change each one to a non-default template and save.

This makes the process of raising invoices much more difficult for me and is prone to error as it relies on me remembering to change the template every time.

I have the answer to my question.

I am very unhappy with Quickbooks.

Hi there, LLTreasurer,

Normally, changing the default invoice template will not affect your historical invoices. Let's do the basic browsing troubleshooting steps to check if this is caused by a full cache.

A cache temporarily stores your browsing data, but it can cause an unable behavior in QuickBooks when it's full.

You can start by logging into QuickBooks in a private browser. This disables the cache from saving new data and it's a good start to check browser issues. If your invoices display their original templates, you can go back to your regular browser and clear the cache. If not, please try other browsers like Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc., to check if this only happens to the one you use or not.

Please go back to this thread if you need more help.

Thanks JessT

As a baseline I opened an 2 invoices and checked the template, closed without saving, changed default template, went back and checked the invoices and the template had changed for both.

As to your suggestion-

Did same in Private Browser mode - fault still occurs.

Cleared Cache -  - fault still occurs.

Tried 2 alternative browsers - fault still occurs.

Do we have a plan B?
