Issue with logins

I have a client who uses Quickbooks Desktop 2019 that is installed on a Microsoft 2016 Server Standard machine. On several occasions, almost weekly, users cannot login while others are. So the system is in multi-user mode for sure but it's like it gets into this state where it thinks you are trying to login under single user mode. However if I login to the desktop of the server, sign into Quickbooks as the main admin account, then all of a sudden the users can log back in. Any ideas why this is?

To resolve unusual behavior while working on a company file, run a file doctor to the affected company through the host company file.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. .
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. From the tool hub, select the Company File Issues tab.
  6. Select Run QuickBooks File Doctor
  7. In QuickBooks File Doctor, choose your company file from the drop-down menu. If you don’t see your file, hit Browse and search to find your file.
  8. Press Check your file and then Continue.
  9. Enter your QuickBooks admin password and click Next.

Running this tool, help fix the issue.

Issue with logins

I've used that tool a million times. It continues to happen even though the tool comes back and says the database is fine.

Thanks for keeping us updated, CCExpert.

Aside from ensuring that the database and file are in good condition, there's a possibility that these users were damaged. I'd recommend deleting and recreating the affected users. Also, make sure that the QuickBooks release version is updated.

If the same thing happens, I'd suggesting reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They can pull up your account and further review your file.
