Jon creation issue

My company works with many customers and creates jobs for each new project we enter into with the customer.

We have been doing this for years and had no problems setting up jobs for each customer until today.
When trying to set up a job for one particular customer, the job number appears under a different customer. I have tried numerous times and each time I get the same result: I create a job under customer A and when I save it, the job number appears under Customer B.
I have not tried with other customers, just A and the recipient is always the same B.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

Hello, ambosscorp.

I have an idea on what's going on with the job issue. I also have a solution on how we can fix this.

This might be an issue on your customers list (the system not recognizing the new names properly), which causes the job number to appear under a different customer name. In this case, we can resort the list to fix it.

Before doing this, switch to single-user mode. Click the File menu, then choose Switch to Single-User mode. Let's also ensure to update QuickBooks to the latest release to avoid issues in the program.

To re-sort your list:

  1. Click the Customers menu, then open Customer Center.
  2. While the Customer Center is open, click the View menu.
  3. Choose Re-sort List.
  4. When prompted, click OK

Next, create a new job again and check to see if it appears under the correct customer profile.

After fixing it, you can browse our articles if you need help managing your customers or jobs. Click here for a list of customer-related topics.
