Join nowHi,
I need a copy of Larry's Landscaping for QB 2018 Accountant- this is the sample service company. Can anyone email me one,
Thanks a lot.
Hi there, balvarezperez.
Good to see you here in QuickBooks Community. I'm here to help ensure you're able to open the sample file you need in QuickBooks Desktop.
For security reasons, we're unable to access your account information through this public forum and we can't send you an email. In addition, there are specific sample company files assigned in QuickBooks Desktop since it has different versions and features.
If you're using the QuickBooks Desktop Premier Accountant version, I can walk you through on how to run the Larry's Landscaping sample file. Here's how:
However, if you're using a different QuickBooks version, you can open a sample file that has the same business type with Larry's file.
For additional reference you can check this article: Create QuickBooks Desktop company file: Overview.
If you need further assistance with the steps, I recommend calling our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have additional tools to pull up your account and do a remote session:

Hello there,
I'm working for a home builder and recently acquired the 2019 Premier Contractor QB version when I came across your post which answers part of my question.
I've used a different construction software where we made a copy of the existing company with a different name; however the same data and it was used for training purposes.
After reading your post, the options when opening the drop arrow of the file Open a sample file we have are:
Sample contractor business
Sample product-based business
Sample service-based business
I'll appreciate when you have a moment to guide me which would be the best option to select.
Thanks for looping in, PUR2019.
I'd b glad to help and guide you in selecting the best sample file option for your business.
You can try both the contractor and service-based sample file. The difference between the two is how the Chart of Accounts is setup.
Compare the two and select which type of file fits for your business. After selecting the best option, you can use that sample file for training purposes.

Thank you! I really appreciate your prompt response.
To compare the two, I should download each, right?
Sorry about the question, but I've been a user and anything related to IT / Software was always done by the IT department and I really did not have to do anything myself. Now I'm learning...
Hi there again, PUR2019,
I appreciate you getting back to the Community and doing a follow up.
Yes you are correct, you can download the two sample files. From there, you’d be able to know which specific serviced-based sample file suits your needs.

Hello,
I downloaded the Contractor Sample Co and also created a copy of my existing company calling it Practice and works great.
Thank you again.
We have determine that we are really not going to use the Estimate side of Contractor.
I've created a customer and a job. Next step is to create the cost codes or items.
Do you know if I can still print job cost reports to see the work in progress, the % of completion and what balance is owed to the vendors (or subcontractors)?
Hi @PUR2019,
As of the moment, you can only track the work progress, percentage completion, and balance of your job cost through estimates.
If you'll consider, you can read this helpful article so you'll be guided on how to do the task: Set Up and Send Progress Invoices.
As always you can visit our Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop if in case you need to learn some "How do I" steps.
