I got a new computer and had to download Quickbooks Desktop for Mac 2016. My current Quickbooks file is for the same product. The vision from my old computer was V17.0.4.R5 and the new is V17.2.32.R33. When I load it onto the new computer, it needs to update the file to a new version, which I do. Then when I try to open the updated version of the file, my password no longer works. I don't understand what's happening.
Thank you for the advice. I found my original version of Quickbooks 2016 and am able to open the file that way. I'll try this solution in the future. Is there a reason why the password would be invalidated, though? It doesn't make sense to me.
