Hi there, spencer1.

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to assist you with using QuickBooks Desktop through a network.

You can set up a multi-user or network environment for QuickBooks Desktop to share the company files. For the complete information and detailed steps, I'm adding the article I recommend on this:

Set up multi-user network.

For additional reference, I'm also adding this link about some frequently asked questions for using Multiple Users:

Feel free to reach out to me for any additional questions or concerns. I'm always here to help out.

You can set up a multi-user network on your QuickBooks Desktop, @Hoxer.

When you're working with two computers for a single company file, you can set up one of them as your host computer. Here's how you can turn on the hosting for one of your computers:

  1. Click on File from the menu bar.
  2. Hover your mouse on Utilities, then click on Host Multi-User Access.
  3. Select Yes on the confirmation window.

You may refer to this article for more information: Set Up a Multi-User Network.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions about multi-user access.

Good day, Hoxer.

The option to work together with QuickBooks Online and Desktop to access the company file simultaneously is unavailable. You can only set up a multi-user or network environment for QuickBooks Desktop version. Then, you can turn on hosting for one computer where the company file is stored.

For more details about setting up multi-user network, please check out this article: Set Up a Multi-User Network.

On the other hand, there's no need for you to have an Internet connection if you set it up on a local network.

Please reply to this thread if you have more questions. I'm here to help.

Hello there, Hoxer.

I've read your previous posts and learned that you and your auditor are from Africa. The system that we can recommend is QuickBooks Online since the Desktop version is available for the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom subscribers only.

You can add your auditor as an accountant user in your company. This way, they can log in to your account directly. For more information, check this article: How to manage an accountant user in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have more questions. We're just around.

You're welcome, Hoxer.

Regarding your last question, you'll have to save the transaction before you can print it. I'll walk you on how to print a sales receipt:

  1. Click the Plus sign (+) icon.
  2. Choose Sales Receipt.
  3. Fill in the necessary fields, then click Print or Preview.
  4. Click Print or Preview again.
  5. Click Print, then click the Print button.

Though, if you're trying to print an invoice payment receipt, here's how you can do it:

  1. Open the payment.
  2. Click Print, then click Print again.
  3. Click the Print button.

We're just here if you need more help. Have a nice day!

Hey there, @dpw2.

I hope you're having a day. To answer your question, yes, you can install QuickBooks on multiple computers and have multiple logins for all your users. The only limitation is the number of people that can log in at the same time, which is determined by the number of seats you have on your license. The steps below will show you how to install the program on other computers:

  1. First, you need to download your version of QuickBooks Desktop and have your product and license number handy.
  2. Next, open the QuickBooks.exe file and follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. Then accept the license agreement and press Next.
  4. Enter the product and license number, then click Next.
  5. Pick an install type: Express or Custom and Network Install.
  6. Finally, you'll need to activate QuickBooks Desktop

Now you have your Desktop file on multiple computers, and you can log in from both. You can also reference this article on installing QuickBooks Desktop for further information.

Just hit Reply and I'll be here to answer any other questions you may have. Have an excellent rest of your day!
