Hi my3827wood,
I'm happy I got this post, you can definitely copy your company file to your old laptop for backup and additional safety in case what happens to your computer where you are running Quickboos Desktop.
You can create a backup copy and save this file to a portable drive like a USB stick, then copy it to your old laptop. If your laptop passed the QuickBooks Desktop System Requirements, you can also install the Quickbooks desktop software.

Hello,
We actually did saved the QB file to our old laptop from imported the file from flash driver saved file, however the QB will not saved up to date after we turn off the laptop power.
We are using Enterprise 3 users version, will it be possible that QB is not allowing us to save additional file to other PC since we already have 3 users in our office?
We need the additional back up to our laptop so we can take it to the trade show use, that's for the view only purpose.
please help.
Thanks!

Thanks for visiting us today, @my3827wood,
I want to make sure you're able to transfer your company file successfully. I only need a few clarifications about the issue.
When you say QuickBooks doesn't update the data after switching off the laptop power, are you referring to the restored backup or the recent activities added to the company file? Additionally, I need to know the file location, is it saved locally or on the flash drive? Knowing this information will help me isolate the issue better.
To check the QBW (company file) location, press F2 on your keyboard to find the location in the Product Information window. The default location for a QuickBooks Desktop company files is C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.
However, if you're talking about the Multiuser system not updating the information on the new laptop, you'll need to ensure you don't exceed the number of user seats activated for your network. If all three (3) users are enabled, it is your discretion to add a separate license for the new workstation if you want to sync the changes automatically.
Otherwise, you can manually restore a backup copy anytime there are changes made to make sure the viewing file is up to date.
Please update me how things go by leaving a comment below. I'll be on a lookout for your reply, @my3827wood.

Welcome to the Community, AG-14.
You've got a great question and I'd be glad to lend a hand.
When you're re-installing the Desktop software to a new computer, you get to choose the location of the file. This part takes place when you select the Custom and Networks Options. Most users save the company file in their Programs folder.
I recommend checking out the Install QuickBooks Desktop article for even more details on this process.
I'm just a comment or post away if you have any other questions. Take care!
