outlook 365 security credential request when sending quickbooks generated email

Every time I try to send an email in quickbooks, via outlook, Microsoft windows requests a security verification prompt.  asks for password, i enter password and check remember credentials.  but it does not remember, and I have to re-enter every time i send an email.  this is a resent issue, have been using this method for years.  only in the past couple of weeks has this began.

also, if i select cancel it will send email.

Re: outlook 365 security credential request when sending quickbooks generated email

Hi mikushie

Thanks for attaching a screenshot. You'll have to modify or delete any saved passwords on your Windows Credential Manager. Allow me to explain further.

Windows Credential Manager allows you to store login credentials that you use to sign in to websites or other software installed on your computer. Since you're often prompted to enter your username and password in Outlook, you'll need to delete the information in the Remove from Vault section on the computer's Control Panel.

In this case, I suggest reaching out to an IT expert for further assistance.

Just in case, I'm linking an article for future reference: QuickBooks Email Login has changed.

You shouldn't be prompted to re-enter your credentials the next time you're sending emails from QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be here to keep helping. Take care.

I would like to do a complete removal of QB and reinstall.  where is the removal wizard utility located?  not the one under Programs.  I remember in the past it was an additional download.

Hi, mikushie.

I can show you the steps to completely remove the installation from your desktop. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Windows Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs and Features.
  3. This will show the list of installed program.
  4. Locate QuickBooks and double-click it.
  5. It will bring up the QuickBooks Maintenance Wizard. Click Next.
  6. Select Remove and finish.

These steps might be different from other Windows version. Also make sure to secure a backup copy of your company file prior from uninstalling the software.

For details on reinstalling the software again, please refer to this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Install-QuickBooks-Desktop/m-p/201334

Always consider on posting your questions here again. We’ll be around to help you anytime.

Re: outlook 365 security credential request when sending quickbooks generated email

So here is the issue and how I've been able to isolate the problem.  In a nutshell remove the MS Exchange email account.

when i send an email with from QB and an Microsoft exchange email account is listed in as an email account in outlook, the Imap dialog box opens requesting password.  and continues to ask with sequential emails, even after entering and checking remember credentials.

When the Microsoft exchange email account is removed, and only an Imap email (gmail) account is listed, outlook does not produce a dialogue box asking for IMAP password.

Prior to this, 4 weeks ago, 5-17-19, QB has been sending emails regardless of what type of email accounts are in Outlook.  and Outlook as a stand alone program works fine.  so it is not an issue with Outlook.  In addition, I painstakingly wiped my computer and only installed these 2 programs and the results where the same.

Again this issues is recent, 4 weeks. Whatever updates you sent out must have created this conflict, where QB is seeing the Exchange Account as an IMAP and hence the conflict.  as the attach image illustrates.

Please Pass this along to the engineers so this issue can be corrected quickly.

Re: outlook 365 security credential request when sending quickbooks generated email

Hi mikushie,

I've answered your original post and seen your attached screenshot. The Windows Security for QuickBooks MAPI is something to do with the Exchange PowerShell settings.

Exchange PowerShell enables you to manage your Exchange Server and Office 365 organizations from the command line. In this case, you'll need to modify its authentication methods on the MAPI virtual directory.

I encourage reaching the Microsoft Community for help modifying the settings.

Keep me posted on how it goes. I'll be around to keep helping. Take care.
