I'll show you a way on how to get this done in QuickBooks, Unived Inc.
Since QuickBooks does not handle landed costs, we'll have to use a workaround to record this in the program. I'll guide you how.
On the original purchase transaction, add a portion of the shipping to each item total. Then, let's create a bill.
- Go to the + New and then select Bill.
- Select the vendor's name.
- Choose the item you purchase, enter the quantity and the amount.
- Add a portion of the shipping.
- Click Save and close.
Once done, pay the bill using a clearing account. Here's how:
- Edit the original bill.
- Increase the item's total cost by a portion of the shipping.
- Select the clearing account.
- Enter the full amount as a negative number.
- Click Save and close.
- Then, click Yes on the prompt message.
