I'm trying to edit some invoice templates in QB Mac 2019, but I always get the layout designer crash error.
I'm on Version T18.0.3 R4, build 3250.
I see that this was fixed in an update earlier this year, but I can't find an option to update the free trial anywhere.
Is there any way to fix this, as I'd like to test out the edit invoice feature before deciding on which QB I'd like to purchase.
Thanks a lot for any help.
Hello there, @KD12.
I want to ensure you're able to edit the invoice template in your QuickBooks successfully. Let's get started!
Since you're still using the Trial version, let's uninstall and reinstall your QuickBooks from your device. Make sure to create a back up copy of your company fire before doing major changes into your account.
For a more detailed information, you may check out this article: Resolve Crash Catcher displaying while using QuickBooks for Mac.
If issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. An agent will be able to further assist you via a secured remote access session.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using Trial Version T18.0.3 R4 on MacOS 10.14.5.
Layout Designer "quit unexpectedly" every time I try to edit or create a template.
I've tried the fixes I've read on other threads here: clean uninstall and clean reinstall (three times), verify data, safe boot. Nothing is fixing it.
I've tried calling the number for mac desktop ([removed]) but so far I can't get through to a human.
Anything else I can do? Is there a known problem with this version and someone just needs to give me a link to a fixed version? Please help! Thanks in advance.
Thanks for joining the Community and bringing this situation.

Try editing one of the included templates (rather than a custom one you created). Does that work? If so the issue may be a damaged font that the custom one is using. Apple's FontBook utility may be able to point it out.
Thanks for the reply. The crash was happening whether editing an existing template or creating a new one.
I finally got hold of a human and was told the problem was with the version R4. They don't make a trial version R6 so I can't do a 30-day trial before buying, but I was able to download a regular R6 version that I can test for 15 uses before it boots me out. The Layout Designer seems to work fine in this non-trial R6 version. Hopefully they'll come out with a working trial version so no one else has to waste hours trying to solve something that's unfixable. Not a good intro to the company.
