Join nowI have a QuickBooks Enterprise Edition 2020 company file that is 1.7 Gb and growing. The file has been in use for 8 years. the company file is regularly verified and rebuilt. Also the file is regularly round trip exported and imported to a portable file.
Is there a limitation on file size? Intuit documentation says there is no file limitation since 2006. Intuit telephone support says there could be instability when the file gets over 1Gb.
Everything else I read implies there is.
What is the answer?
Does the compress function work?
QuickBooks data files larger than 500MB need to be optimized every 6-12 months to ensure they run at top performance. There is no internal functionality in QuickBooks to optimize the data file other than running a condense. As additional option, you may consider to purchase a 3rrd party service to optimize your file. We will copy all data into a new data file, remove unwanted temporary data, and audit trail data to bring down file size by 25-40%. This will improve the performance and stability of your data file.
Like Fiat Lux said, you best bet is to get a 3rd party service to condense the file in order to optimise performance.
Are you able to provide some suggestions of 3rd parties that can do this?
Can you provide some recommendations of 3rd party add ons that can achieve this?
