QuickBooks won't boot up

I opened QuickBooks to begin entering some checks and the system froze.  I left it frozen for about 10 minutes and then I killed the program.  Now I can't get QuickBooks Pro to boot up.  Any suggestions of how to get it to open again?

Here are a few possible reasons why QuickBooks won't open:

  • Multiple windows opened in your company file
  • There are any folder permission issues
  • The company file is located to a network drive
  • Company file is damaged

Sometimes, restarting your computer will resolve this issue. If not, then let's make sure to update your QuickBooks to the latest release. Please see Download from the Internet in this article: Update to the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop. Once done, try to open QuickBooks Desktop.
