The transactions I previously entered are not there when I open Quickbooks

In almost all cases this is a result of opening a different copy of the company file.  Is that possible in your case? Do you have multiple company files on your computer?

Thanks for dropping by, @jlitsey.

I can help you verify and locate the missing transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

I agree with BRC. It could be that you're opening a different company file which is why your transactions are not showing.

To view the Product Information window, press the F2 key. The File Information section shows the file location of the currently open company file.

Another point to check is the Audit Trail report. This shows all transactions that have been entered, modified, and deleted in your company file.

Here's how to run the report:

  1. Click Reports.
  2. Choose Accountant & Taxes.
  3. Select Audit Trail.

I'm confident that will help you locate your transactions.

I'll be happy to provide additional help if you have other concerns. Don't hesitate to add a comment. Have a good one!

Hello there, flora1.

You’ll want to re-enter the transactions on the correct company file and then delete those that were recorded on the other file.

You might also want to pull up a transaction detailed report as your basis when entering sales and expense transactions again. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports
  2. Choose Custom Reports
  3. Select Transactions Detail.
  4. Customize the report according to the information of the transactions.

Please let me know if you have further questions. I got you covered!

There is no built in way to move or copy transactions from one file to another. However,  you can do it using our BRC Transaction Copier
