We run QBES v19. We have a process that needs to run daily, but don't want to have to have a user account logged in the QB 24x7 if we can help it.
I am looking for a utility that will open our QB file for a specific QB user (at say 4pm) and then a while later (say 5pm), close the QB file. It does not need to close QB, just the file.
We have this setup to run on a dedicated Windows 10 machine (so the Windows user account can stay logged in and we can have QB open, and I want it to only run on weekdays. No one else uses the computer.
Anyone have any ideas?
Hello there, John_K.
At the moment, the option to have QuickBooks Desktop open a user or file automatically is unavailable. The process is done manually.
You'll want to consult other opinions in the Intuit Developer forum. This is a page where you can ask engineers, developers, and other QuickBooks users about your concern.
You can go to this link: https://help.developer.intuit.com/s/ and select QuickBooks Desktop then click the Ask a Question button.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions or other concerns. Take care and stay safe.
It's TrueCommerce -- but not sure why that matters ??
Have you explore task scheduler in Windows?
Thank you -- that was my plan if I could not find a utility.
- Task 1 - open the QB file
- Task 2 - kill the QBW task
