In QuickBooks Desktop, you have an option to turn on the serial or lot numbers to start tracking your inventory items. This is the first thing that we'll need to do so we can assign a serial number to your inventory item. Here's how:

1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences.
2. On the left pane, select Items & Inventory, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
3. Select Advanced Inventory Settings.
4. Within the Serial/Lot Numbers tab, select Enable Lot or Serial Numbers.
5. Tick the Serial Numbers. Then, OK.

If you have created the items already, you'll have to utilize the Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand window to assign a serial number to the existing ones. Here's how:

1. Go to the Inventory menu.
2. Select Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand.
3. Click on the Adjustment Type drop-down arrow, then select Serial Number.
4. Select the Adjustment Date.
5. In the Item field, enter the item name. Then, enter the serial numbers.
6. Click Save and close.

The feature is available on QBD Enterprise Platinum. Otherwise, consider having an inventory management app with a one time license to integrate with your QBD Pro/Premier edition.

This is for Enterprise.  I have Pro.  Enterprise is out of our budget :-)

We use QB Pro, the option you are giving is for only Enterprise

Currently, the serial or lot numbers feature is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop Pro. Instead, you can consider having an inventory management app to integrate with QuickBooks.

Check our QuickBooks App Store and look for an app that integrates with QBDT.
