Why can't I search and filter with PayPal accounts?

I use Quickbooks online for my business and linked two PayPal accounts. Unlike with other accounts such as Bank of America or Chase, I cannot search PayPal transactions which makes it very difficult to search and group transactions for a specific category.

I contacted support numerous times and none of them are able to assist. So if anyone here can help, please do.

Not sure if there is a workaround or if I should switch to a different product.

Thanks for posting in the Community space, @cookiecrust.

Currently, the search feature is unavailable with Paypal accounts. Every bank accounts have different features when connecting to QuickBooks like the search feature that shows in your Chase account.

Also, QuickBooks can't control syncing options with a third-party application. For now, you'll have to manually look for each transaction.

However, if there are data that are in your bank statement but not on the Banking page, we can update your bank.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Banking menu and choose the Banking tab.
  3. Select your Paypal account and click Update
  4. If asked, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and then choose Continue update.

Once you find those transactions, you'll be able to review and categorize your PayPal transactions in QBO. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. It also contains instructions about excluding personal or duplicate transactions.

Additionally, I'd also recommend reconciling your PayPal account every month. This is to detect possible errors and make sure it matches with your real-life transactions. For the detailed steps, you can refer to this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

In case you have a follow-up question about managing your accounts, feel free to tag me in your reply. I’m more than happy to work with you again.

@cookiecrust

Explore this app as a workaround.
